Anam Illume (“I,” “me,” or “my”) is a Limited Liability Company based in Bellingham, Washington, owned and operated by Allison Maassen, that offers end-of-life care and integrative healing services. This Privacy Policy explains how I collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you visit anamillume.com or engage with my services.

Because my work involves sensitive topics, including health information, end-of-life planning, grief, and spiritual care, I take your privacy extremely seriously. Please read this policy carefully.

3.  Sensitive Health Information

Because Anam Illume provides health-adjacent services, including end-of-life planning and advocacy, core shamanic healing, the Hybrid Session: Planning & Presence, bedside vigil support, and holistic grief support, I may collect information that qualifies as “consumer health data” under the Washington My Health MY Data Act (2023).

This means:

•     I will not share your health information with third parties without your explicit written consent, except as required by law.

Please note: Anam Illume is not a covered entity under HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). However, I voluntarily apply HIPAA-equivalent privacy standards to all client health information, consistent with the ethics codes of INELDA, the Healing Touch Program, and the Foundation for Shamanic Studies.

4.  Information Sharing and Disclosure

I do not share your personal information except in the following limited circumstances:

•     Service providers: I use trusted third-party platforms, including Squarespace, Acuity Scheduling, Stripe, Zoom, and Google Workspace, solely to operate my business. These vendors are bound by their own privacy policies and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes;

•     Legal requirements: I may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of you or others;

•     Professional referrals: With your written consent, I may coordinate with other care providers on your behalf; and

•     Mandatory reporting: As required by Washington state law, I am obligated to report suspected abuse of children, elders, or vulnerable adults to the appropriate authorities.

5.  Data Retention

I retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide services and meet legal, ethical, and professional obligations. Client records are generally retained for a minimum of seven (7) years following the conclusion of services, consistent with professional standards. You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 8), subject to any legal or professional retention requirements.
